A woman has filed a lawsuit against her dentist, stating that he left her disfigured and traumatized after performing too many procedures in one day. She added that he lied about how much anesthesia she was given, as well.
Kathleen Wilson, of Minnesota, filed the civil rights lawsuit last Thursday in Hennepin County District Court. It alleges that Dr. Kevin Molldrem performed 8 dental crowns, four root canals, and 20 fillings within 5-and-a-half hours back in 2020.
Because of that, Wilson was left with aches, humiliation, disfigurement, and emotional distress. She also had to see several other dentists in order to correct Molldrem’s alleged actions.
Additionally, Wilson says that the dentist used too much anesthesia and falsified medical records. This was so he wouldn’t be held liable.
An expert dentist in Florida, Dr. Avrum Goldstein, is already supporting her lawsuit. The suit is seeking $50,000 in damages.
Goldstein stated that almost every tooth that Wilson had was decayed. However, her treatment plan was incorrect. He added that the process should have been done slowly and carefully thought out.
Also, Goldstein said that doing all the procedures at one time did nothing to prevent her mouth from being further infected or prevent her from possibly losing her teeth. He said that her dentist did the exact opposite of what he was supposed to do.
The expert dentist also documented that Molldrem, who has been in practice since 2004, had administered an excessive amount of anesthesia to Wilson as he performed the procedures.
490 milligrams is the maximum recommended dosage for an extended appointment. However, Wilson was given nearly double of that, being administered 960 milligrams.
Molldrem noted that at some point Wilson’s teeth may have to be taken out or replaced with implants. Thus, all the work that was done on her mouth, and the money associated with it, will have been a waste.
