On Monday morning, someone placed a false 911 call, reporting a fire at the White House with someone trapped inside. Responding to the call just after 7 a.m. ET, multiple units from the District of Columbia’s Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department arrived, only to determine that it was a baseless alarm.
While no law enforcement team was deployed, Noah Gray, the communications director for D.C. fire and EMS, noted that the incident aligns with the “swatting” trend, where individuals falsely report a crime to prompt a police response. This occurrence follows a recent surge in such incidents targeting public officials.
The identity and origin of the caller remain unknown. President Joe Biden was at Camp David during the 911 call, ensuring he was not at the White House at the time.
