Stafford, VA – A Chesterfield man has been charged with murder after a shooting this afternoon in a South Stafford subdivision.
At 1:49 p.m. deputies responded to a shooting on Crescent Valley Drive. The victim, Aliyah Henderson, 19, of Stafford, was discovered in the home with a gunshot wound. Medics with Stafford County Fire and Rescue confirmed Henderson had succumbed to her wound at the scene.
Trevon Vanzant, 21, has a child in common with Henderson. The one-year old child and another family member of Henderson were in the home at the time of the shooting, but not injured. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
Detectives N.D. Ridings was assigned the investigation and determined Vanzant had shot Henderson during a dispute.
Vanzant has been charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He has been held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
