A woman from New Hampshire who was employed at a day care center in Massachusetts is facing serious allegations of engaging in the production and distribution of sexually explicit images of children.
Lindsay Groves, 38, of Hudson, was officially charged on Thursday with offenses related to the sexual exploitation of children and the distribution of child pornography. Federal investigators say she took nude photos of children at the Creative Minds day care center in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, and subsequently sent them to a former partner with whom she had previously been in an intimate relationship.
The investigation also led to the arrest of Stacie Laughton, a former Democratic state lawmaker, on charges of distributing child sexual abuse images.
Laughton had resigned from the New Hampshire House in December. Her resignation came after being charged with stalking Groves.
Laughton, a member of the Democratic Party, has a history with law enforcement. In 2012, she made headlines for being the ‘first transgender individual’ elected to a state legislature.
She ultimately chose not to assume her seat in the legislature due to reports surfacing about her past convictions in 2008 for identity fraud and falsifying evidence.
