On Wednesday, 6-year-old Hosanna Honey Blue Sancho was said to have been stabbed by her mother in an apartment in San Antonio, Texas.
Her mother, who has mental health issues, is accused of fatally stabbing her daughter after possibly being triggered by something as she was caring for the child, family members say.
When the child was 4, Nephiteri Sancho, the 36-year-old mother, handed over power of attorney to family members. The child had resided with those individuals in the apartment unit above her mother’s.
On Tuesday evening, Hosanna had stayed the night at her mother’s apartment.
When the mother wouldn’t answer her phone, relatives went to her residence upstairs and discovered the child wounded. They immediately attempted to perform CPR; however, their attempts were unsuccessful.
When authorities arrived on the scene, the mother quickly became a suspect as she was seen running around the area unclothed.
Now, Hosanna’s family members want to highlight how essential it is to get assistance when dealing with mental health issues.
A representative for Texas Department of Family and Protective Services noted that they haven’t had any communication with the mother for many years. But, they didn’t comment any further.
Nephiteri Sancho has been charged with capital murder.
DPS has said that an official report will be released once an investigation is complete.
