Subway Announces ‘One of The Most Complex Changes The Brand Has Ever Made’
Subway is embarking on a significant endeavor by installing deli meat slicers in 20,000 of its U.S. locations, aiming to provide customers with freshly cut meat. The company said the move is “one of the most complex changes the brand has ever made.”
This announcement is part of Subway’s efforts to revitalize its entire chain after a period of sluggish sales and a deteriorating reputation. The initiative, known as the Eat Fresh Refresh, has included a complete overhaul of the menu and has resulted in nine consecutive quarters of positive sales.
Trevor Haynes, President of Subway’s North American operations, said, “Over the past two years, we overhauled our expansive pantry of ingredients and debuted a whole new way to Subway with chef-crafted signature sandwiches. “This year’s changes are even bigger and more transformational.”

To support this transformation, the brand has invested over $80 million in deli meat slicers, providing them as a “gift” to all its franchised restaurants in the U.S.
In celebration of the new rollout, Subway will offer up to 1 million free 6-inch Deli Heroes subs at select locations nationwide on July 11, between 10 a.m. and noon local time.
