‘LOCK YOUR DOORS’ | Elderly Couple ‘Randomly’ Slain In Boston Suburb On 50th Wedding Anniversary Along With Relative In Her 90s
NEWTON, Mass. – Three people were discovered deceased inside a residence in Newton, Massachusetts, on Sunday morning.
Among the victims were a couple commemorating their golden wedding anniversary. Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said that the victims had sustained apparent stab wounds and blunt force trauma.
The victims were identified by family members as Jill and Bruno D’Amore, and Jill’s mother, Lucia Arpino.
In response to this apparent random triple homicide, Newton Police Chief John Carmichael confirmed an increased police presence in the area as they actively search for potential suspects.
During a news conference on Sunday, Ryan disclosed that all three victims were part of the same family and had plans to attend church that morning.
“As you can imagine, this would be tragic on any day, to have family gathered for this kind of a celebration makes it particularly tragic,” Ryan said. “This is the night to lock your doors and windows.”
Preliminary findings indicated signs of forced entry at the crime scene, although there is no evidence linking this incident to an attempted break-in at a nearby home approximately half a mile away earlier that morning, the district attorney said.
Officials did not say if any items were stolen from the crime scene.
Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution, review their surveillance footage, and promptly report any suspicious activity or information to the police.
“As far as the Newton Police Department, we won’t rest until we find out who did this, and we find justice for the victims that were involved here,” said Newton Police Chief John Carmichael said.
