TENNESSEE – In the early hours of Thursday morning, a tragic incident occurred in South Nashville, resulting in the death of a 34-year-old woman who was struck by a train. The collision took place around 12:50 a.m. on January 4 near the 900 block of Currey Road, situated in a residential area.
Alicia Lesch, the victim, was reportedly lying or sitting on the train tracks as the train navigated a curve. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the train’s engineer informed investigators that Lesch was in the process of getting up, but he couldn’t bring the train to a stop before the collision occurred.
Upon seeing emergency vehicles at the scene, the victim’s family, who were actively searching for Lesch in the vicinity, discovered what happened.
It remains unclear why Lesch was on the tracks — or if drugs or alcohol were a factor. The investigation is ongoing.
