According to authorities, a man in Arkansas has been arrested for allegedly piercing his teenage son’s ear, violating state laws regarding “body art.”
Jeremy Sherland was taken into custody by the police on charges of endangering a minor, performing a body piercing on a minor under 16, and resisting arrest.
The incident came to light when the suspect’s son told his classmates that he had his ear pierced while his fat her was drunk and holding him in a chokehold.
When the police first visited Sherland’s home, he refused to speak with them. However, after discussing the matter with Washington County prosecutors, the officers returned and arrested him.
A video of the incident showed four officers forcibly entering the home and handcuffing the man.
According to Arkansas law, a person is not permitted to perform body art on a person under the age of 16, regardless of parental consent.
Sherland was released after posting $1,500 bail, and his arraignment has been scheduled for May 22.
