In 2019, Allyson Duckro broke up with her boyfriend James Rayl after a series of alleged verbal abuse. After the breakup, Rayl moved to California and Duckro didn’t expect to see him again. In 2022, Rayl returned to Ohio and contacted Duckro wanting to meet, but Duckro refused. On July 31st, 2022, Rayl showed up to Duckro’s house. After ordering for Rayl to leave the house, he attempted to break through their door. Allyson’s father, Mitchell Duckro, gave Rayl a warning that he was armed, but Rayl continued to slam into the front door. Moments later, Mitchell shot Rayl three times.
