Judge Clifton Newman addressed the jury after they returned a guilty verdict for disgraced lawyer Alex Murdaugh in less than three hours. Murdaugh was convicted of murdering his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, on June 7, 2021. “The verdict that you’ve reached is supported by the evidence,” Newman said. “I applaud you all for evaluating the evidence and coming to a proper conclusion as you saw the law.”
