Florida Woman Shreds Her Mustang Tires Fleeing From Cops At Over 110 MPH

BUNNELL, FL (FCSO) – Early Thursday, March 23, 2023, a female driving a Ford Mustang fled from an attempted traffic stop.

The vehicle was traveling at such a high rate of speed southbound on US-1 that deputies were unable to get into a safe position to deploy stop sticks before the vehicle entered I-95 northbound. Deputies positioned themselves at the I-95 exits in case the vehicle exited. Deputy Quintieri observed the vehicle exit I-95 onto SR 100 at a high rate of speed and attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop, fleeing at over 100 mph.

Deputy Stanford and Bunnell PD Officer Kilpatrick successfully deployed Stop Sticks in the path of the vehicle near the Flagler County Courthouse. The driver then continued to flee southbound on SR 11 toward Volusia County as two tires shredded from the successful Stop Stick deployment. Upon entering Volusia County, a Volusia Deputy Sheriff confirmed the vehicle was traveling at over 110 MPH. A short time later, VSO found the vehicle wrecked into a ditch after passing the Volusia County deputy on SR11.

The driver, Barbara Ray, was taken into custody by VSO. Ray was arrested for Reckless Driving, Fleeing/Eluding LEO with Disregard for Safety or Person/Property, Resisting an Officer Without Violence, and Failure to Obey a Lawful Order by FCSO deputies and Fleeing/Attempting to Elude by VSO. Ray is being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail.

“Mustangs might be fast, but you can’t outrun our radio system and our law enforcement partners,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Her driver’s license needs to be permanently revoked and she needs to spend some time in the Green Roof Inn thinking about her poor decisions and behavior that put so many drivers at risk. Thank you to VSO and Bunnell Police Department for helping to stop this reckless driver before she could kill someone.”
