The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida released bodycam footage showing police arresting two 12-year-old boys for playing with a gun. A family reported that they heard gunshots in a vacant lot and when they went to check to see if anyone was injured, one of the boys allegedly pointed the gun at their car which was occupied by two adults and three children. The responding sheriff’s sergeant heard additional gunshots as she approached the lot and ordered the boys to come out with their hands up. The sergeant recovered the apparent firearm and took both boys into custody. Both suspects were charged with discharging a firearm and possession of a firearm by a person under 16. The boy who allegedly pointed the gun at a witness was also charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.
