TAMPA – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says a 52-year-old man from Tampa has been arrested by deputies in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found in an apartment alongside a baby.
The discovery was made during a welfare check at the Avenue Apartments complex in the Temple Terrace area, where both the deceased and the unharmed infant were found.
The medical examiner’s office determined that the woman’s death was a homicide, and detectives identified Thomas Sapp as a suspect through their investigation.
It is unclear what led authorities to suspect Sapp or how he knew the victim, and no information about the deceased woman’s identity or cause of death has been disclosed.
Sapp has been detained without bail at a Hillsborough County jail and is facing charges of premeditated first-degree murder, sexual battery causing serious injury, and child neglect.
