A Texas teacher, Brandyn Hargrove, is set to lose her job following her indictment on twelve criminal charges related to sexual misconduct with a teenage girl who was her student.
Hargrove, facing six counts of sexual assault of a child, four counts of indecency with a child by contact, and two counts of indecency with a child by exposure, was indicted on December 19 and subsequently booked into jail two days later.
The charges, all felonies, stem from incidents dating back to 2007 when Hargrove was an English teacher at Brazoswood High School. The alleged victim, a former student, was 15 to 17 years old at the time, according to statements from the police chief as reported by KPRC.
Despite Hargrove being a former teacher of the year, the victim came forward in September, disclosing incidents that occurred off-campus over a span of two years, as per information reported by KTRK.
The Brazosport school district, reacting promptly upon notification of the investigation on September 29, 2023, placed Hargrove on administrative leave.
Last week, KPRC reported that the district convened a special board meeting to propose Hargrove’s termination, with the final decision expected to be reached on January 22.
