Warren, Ohio — On November 2, 2022, a Warren Police Officer noticed a male wanted for felonious assault. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the suspect, 39-year old Lamar Mitchell refused to pull over. Officers then pursued after Mitchell on North Park Avenue.
The pursuit ended when Mitchell cr ashed into a vehicle in the area of North Park and Washington Street NE. Mitchell fled his vehicle on foot following the crash behind a daycare center. As Officers pursued after Mitchell, Mitchell forced his way through a rear door of the daycare center as an employee walking back into the daycare center was attempting to shut the door. Officers followed after Mitchell and as they entered the same doorway,
Mitchell raised his hand towards the officers and threatened to “shoot” them. An officer attempted to tase Mitchell but was unsuccessful.
Officers were able to apprehend Mitchell after he fled into a classroom, where several young children were located. Mitchell has been charged with the following:
Failure to comply
Felonious assault
Aggravated burglary
Four counts of aggravated menacing
