The Denver Police Department is investigating a string of crimes that occurred Wednesday in which a Jewish student was fatally shot.
The incidents started in the 2700 block of West Alameda Avenue where police responded to a car burglary. Next, police were alerted to a carjacking near the intersection of East Colfax Avenue and Grape Street. Then, a man was robbed a gunpoint near North Lafayette Street and East Colfax Avenue. The victim was shot but is expected to survive.
Finally, around 11:30 p.m., a shooting occurred at the Yeshiva Toras Chaim school on the 1500 block of North Stuart Street. The victim at the school, identified as 18-year-old Shmuel Silverberg, was shot multiple times in the chest, sources say.
On Thursday, Denver Police arrested 4 of the 5 suspects involved in the crimes. The police continue to maintain that the incident was not a biased hate-crime.

Our community is seeking solace and privacy at this time.”
