A judge has rendered a sentence of life imprisonment accompanied by penalties exceeding $15 million for a wealthy dentist who took the life of his wife following an African safari.
Larry Rudolph received his sentencing on Monday in a Denver federal court. The sentencing pertains to the 2016 murder of Bianca Rudolph, as well as charges of mail fraud. Larry Rudolph had capitalized on insurance policies, totaling nearly $5 million, associated with his late wife. The prosecution says that he aimed to fund a luxurious retirement with his long-time girlfriend using the insurance funds.
Throughout the legal proceedings, Larry Rudolph has consistently maintained that his wife’s death in the southern African nation of Zambia was an accident. His legal team plans to challenge the conviction. Prosecutors, however, contend that Rudolph, who owned a dental franchise in the Pittsburgh area, intentionally shot his spouse of 34 years in the heart using a shotgun on the final morning of their stay. Subsequently, he concealed the firearm in a soft case, creating the illusion that she had accidentally shot herself while packing. The Rudolphs had been engaged in game hunting during their trip.
It’s claimed that he hastened his wife’s cremation and employed intimidation tactics against officials conducting an inquiry into her death.
The prosecution’s case posits that the ultimate objective was for Larry Rudolph to embark on an opulent retirement alongside his long-standing partner, Lori Milliron, utilizing the insurance proceeds. Lori Milliron, who was convicted as an accessory, was subsequently sentenced to 17 years in prison in June. She has lodged an appeal against her conviction.
