Death Of Man Accused Of Killing His Mother At Sea Was Not Suspicious, Autopsy Says

NEW HAMPSHIRE – 29-year-old Nathan Carman, who was awaiting trial for allegedly killing his mother for inheritance money, was found dead in his New Hampshire jail cell on June 15th.

The attorney general’s office confirmed that the death was deemed non-suspicious, indicating no involvement of others or evidence of a crime. The cause of Carman’s death remains undisclosed at the family’s request, officials said.

Carman had previously pleaded not guilty to charges of fraud and first-degree murder in connection with his mother’s death in 2016. The indictment also mentioned his alleged involvement in his wealthy grandfather’s murder in 2013, although no charges were brought against him for that crime. Carman consistently denied any connection to either incident.

Prosecutors claimed that Carman orchestrated a fishing trip in September 2016 with his mother, intending to kill her and stage a boat accident. After eight days at sea, Carman was found alive on an inflatable raft, but his mother’s body was never recovered.

Prosecutors accused him of tampering with the boat to ensure its sinking, an accusation Carman vehemently denied.
