An investigation has begun after a fire occurred at an apartment complex on Christmas Eve in Fort Worth. It led to the death of one woman, many people being displaced, and three others wounded, including a firefighter.
The Fort Worth Fire Department noted that they arrived to the scene of a fire in the 600 block of King George Dr., just prior to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Officials stated that they first saw smoke coming from one of the apartments when they got there. Firefighters discovered two people inside of the burning apartment and were able to save them. They were in critical condition, received medical attention on the scene, and were transported to a medical facility.
While putting out the blaze, one firefighter injured his knee and was taken away for an evaluation.
After the fire, 16 units were ruined, and 25 people were left without a residence.
The Red Cross has given hotel accommodations, comfort kits, and financial help to seven of the 15 families that were affected.
Now, the fire department’s Arson and Bomb team are investigating to determine what led to the fire.
The woman who lost her life hasn’t been identified at this time.
