The notorious “ChiefsAholic,” a Kansas City Chiefs superfan, who had been evading authorities for several months, has been apprehended and now faces a slew of charges.

Xaviar Michael Babudar, 28, was taken into custody on Friday in Lincoln, California.

According to the criminal complaint filed on May 24, 2023, in the U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Missouri, Babudar has been charged with one count of bank theft and one count of transporting stolen property across state lines.

DOJ

Federal court documents claim that Babudar committed a robbery at the Tulsa Teachers Federal Credit Union on December 16, 2022. After being released on bond in February 2023, Babudar removed his ankle monitor in late March 2023.

According to an affidavit supporting the federal criminal complaint, Babudar embarked on a spree of bank robberies and credit union heists across the Midwest. FBI investigators meticulously examined bank records, casino transaction records, and sensitive financial reports to ascertain the extent of his additional criminal activities.

Court documents reveal that between April and December 2022, Babudar purchased and redeemed over $1 million in chips from various casinos in Missouri, Kansas, and Illinois.

Furthermore, investigators examined unsolved bank robberies in the Midwest and discovered that Babudar’s cell phone was present in the same cities and locations during these previously unresolved incidents of bank robberies and attempted robberies, as stated in the affidavit.

The affidavit mentions four bank robberies in Nebraska, Iowa, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, along with two attempted credit union robberies in Minnesota. Allegedly, Babudar laundered the proceeds from these robberies through local casinos and bank accounts.

According to the court documents, in one incident, Babudar made off with over $70,000 from the Great Western Bank in Clive, Iowa, on March 2, 2022.

Babudar’s initial court appearance is scheduled for this afternoon in federal court in Sacramento, California.

The case will be presented before a federal grand jury to determine whether there is enough evidence to indict Babudar on the existing charges or any additional ones.
