The Atlanta Police Department said they released bodycam footage showing officers arresting parents accused of infant homicide.
On August 18th, 2022, Investigators with the Atlanta Police Department’s Fugitive Unit arrested 23-year-old Zion Byrd and 20-year-old Deshan Turner. They were both taken taken into custody without incident and were charged with Murder and Cruelty to Children for the death of their infant child. They were transported to the Fulton County Jail without incident.
On 8/10/22, officers responded to 2235 Beecher Rd SW in reference to an unresponsive infant. The child was transported to the hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. Homicide investigators responded to the scene to launch their initial investigation in conjunction with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office. Further investigation revealed the child sustained injuries consistent with inflicted trauma. Investigators later established probable cause to arrest the child’s guardians, Zion Byrd and Dehshan Turner and arrest warrants were secured.
