An agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms filed a federal lawsuit, accusing two Columbus police officers of using excessive force against him while he was working in his official capacity. On July 7, 2020, agent James Burk was retrieving a shotgun from someone not authorized to possess a firearm. Two officers arrived to the scene and aggressively tased and arrested agent Burk because he was in his casual work attire. Burk was later released without any charges after being held for more than an hour.
