41-year-old woman fighting for her life after being shot in head while sitting in SUV at Nashville apartment complex

SOUTH NASHVILLE – Homicide Unit detectives are pursuing active leads in this morning’s critical shooting of Cassandra Mayes, 41, who was found at 8:15 a.m. shot in the head inside her SUV in a parking lot of Chimney Top Apartments in Antioch.

Mayes’ wound is life threatening.

Mayes had visited a friend at the apartment complex and was in the process of leaving when witnesses heard a single gunshot. Mayes was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in extremely critical condition.

No further details were released.
