Nebraska’s tight end, Arik Gilbert, was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of burglary after authorities received a call regarding a store break in.
Gilbert, who was a transfer student from Georgia, was waiting for a ruling on his eligibility from the NCAA.
Officers responded to the call at SJ’s Liquor and Vape Shop around 2:00 a.m. and when they arrived they found shattered glass and saw Gilbert walking out the building.
Authorities announced themselves and quickly arrested Gilbert, who had a bag of stolen items on him.
The bag consisted of stolen vape products, Delta 8, cigars and lighters with a total value of $1,672.07.
Gilbert was a five star recruit from Marietta, Georgia and he was also the 2019 Gatorade National Player of the Year.
