Chris Rock’s mother, Rose Rock speaks out about Will Smith slapping her son at the 2022 Oscars. Chris made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head referring to the “GI Jane” film. Pinkett Smith has struggled with alopecia.
Originally, Rose thought the slap was staged, but when Smith began using explicit language, Rose realized it was real.
“When he slapped Chris, he slapped all of us. He really slapped me,” Rose told reporters.
After the incident, she reached out to Chris to express how proud she was of his response.
Although Smith apologized to Chris on social media, Rose feels Smith should have reached out personally. “I mean his people wrote up a piece saying, ‘I apologize to Chris Rock,’ but you see something like that is personal, you reach out,” Rose states.
Jada Pinkett Smith stated during her show “Red Table Talk” on Wednesday that their family is “focused on deep healing”.
