On Thursday, a 33-year-old man died after he was discovered unresponsive by a colleague, inside of a walk-in freezer at a bakery’s manufacturing establishment, in Brooklyn, New York.
The unidentified man was pronounced deceased at Beigel’s Bakery. Authorities had responded to a 911 call at 8:46 a.m.
The cause and manner of the man’s death isn’t known at this time, but there was no obvious signs of trauma. Authorities speculate that the man had accidentally gotten locked inside of the walk-in freezer, close to 3 a.m.
“The family has been notified, and we extend out deepest condolences to them. Grief counselors are on site to provide counseling and support to the family and our employees. This is an ongoing situation, and we are cooperating with all investigations,” said David Greenberger, the bakery manager.
