Many believe that diversity is needed in relation to police treatment in neighborhoods of color, and representation is important.
As a result, 16 Black women have just graduated from MPD Academy in the 136th class.
In total, there were 70 graduates, and they have all been on the streets for about a month thus far.
Many have expressed their welcoming of the new officers.
